About Us

 

 

The Highflyers Jump Rope Team, out of the Katy YMCA in Katy, Texas was established in the fall of 2000 under the leadership of Coach David Cazares and Coach Tammy Aleman.  The team is comprised of jumpers from 1^st to10^th grade and continues to add new members each year.

 

The Highflyers have been featured on the local news, newspaper, ESPN, as well as an X-Box 360 commercial with Ben Wallace of the Chicago Bulls.  

Since its first participation in the U.S. Nationals Jump Rope Championships in 2001, the Highflyers have consistently achieved many medals and championships in local, regional, and national level tournaments.  Each year the Highflyers attend and teach various workshops in Texas.  Service has been a big part of the Highflyers experience, as they have performed  for the American Heart Association, The Ronald McDonald House, America’s Walk for Diabetes, MS Walk, Houston Grand Prix, various schools, churches and special events.  The Highflyers promote hard work, dedication, leadership, and responsibility.  These values allow our jumpers to become great athletes and successful in life.

          

Anyone interested in a performance may contact the Katy YMCA or see Coach David Cazares or Coach Tammy Aleman.  The Highflyers will be teaching a jump rope workshop for anyone interested in learning various jump rope skills on January 27^th at the Katy YMCA.  The Highflyers will also be adding new members in February 2008, for anyone interested in joining the team.
